Depending on your arrival time, you may have the chance to explore Kigali’s vibrant craft markets, where you can find beautifully handcrafted pottery, carvings, batik, weaving, sculptures, and fabrics—don’t forget to test your bargaining skills!

Later, you will check into the iconic Hotel des Mille Collines, a semi-luxury accommodation famously depicted in the movie Hotel Rwanda. Known for its historic significance, lush gardens, and relaxing poolside ambiance, it’s the perfect place to unwind before your adventure begins.

After an early breakfast, you’ll set off for Volcanoes National Park, home to Rwanda’s famous mountain gorillas. Your adventure begins at the Office Rwandais du Tourisme et des Parcs Nationaux (ORTPN), where an expert park ranger will brief you on trekking protocols and assign groups based on fitness levels and interests.

Your trek through the dense forests and bamboo-covered slopes is a journey into the heart of the gorillas’ habitat. The duration of the trek can vary from 30 minutes to several hours, depending on the location of the gorilla families. Along the way, your guide will point out signs of gorilla activity, including nests, footprints, and chewed bamboo.

Once you find the gorillas, you’ll have a magical hour to observe them in their natural habitat—a truly humbling and unforgettable experience.

After the trek, return to your lodge to relax and relive the incredible memories of your encounter with these majestic primates.

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before driving back to Kigali. Depending on your departure schedule, you may visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a powerful tribute to the victims of the 1994 Rwandan Genocide. The memorial includes a Children’s Memorial and an in-depth historical exhibit, offering a profound reflection on Rwanda’s past and resilience.

Your guide will then transfer you to Kigali International Airport in time for your flight. If your flight is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. or later, this visit can be included. Should you require an extra night in Kigali, we’ll be happy to arrange accommodation for you.
